Last December, the Assin North District celebrated Farmers’ & Fishers’ Day themed “Enhancing Small Scale Agriculture towards Agribusiness Development”. The DCE, and the Chief of Assin Akonfudi, Nana Kwantwi Kumah commended the farmers for their dedication and commitment to their work, commenting that the theme was appropriate because the practice of subsistence farming has outlive its relevance in Ghana, and that rural communities are stagnant because of inadequate agro-industries and agribusiness to add value to our agrarian economy. The event was held at the park of Assin Akonfudi Cluster of Schools and ended with some farmers receiving various awards for the work they have done in the past year.
