Visit (BECE) Centres in Assin North

As part of activities of the Assin North District Assembly to support Education in the district by ensuring the enhancement of good and quality education, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Charles Ohene Andoh, the Member of Parliament (MP), Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, and the District Director of Education (DDE), Mrs. Juliette Otami visited three (3) Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centers for the 2020/2021 Academic Year and interacted with the candidates. Accompanied by officers from the offices of the DCE, MP, and DDE, the team visited the Bereku Catholic, Assin North SHTS, and Akonfudi M/A JHS centers on Monday, November 15, 2021.

In his initial remarks, the MP encouraged the candidates to put in their all to come out with flying colors as they are the future of the district and the future of Ghana for that matter. He emphasized the need for the candidates to desist from examination malpractices as that could negatively affect them by having their results canceled.

He further used the opportunity to donate mathematical sets to the candidates to aid them in their final examinations and urged them to make very good use of the sets.

The DCE engaged with some supervisors of the centers to inquire about the status of activities at their various centers. By doing so, the team found that a few candidates were absent. Among them were girls who were unable to sit for the examination as a result of pregnancy. In an interview with the media, the DCE advised parents to allow their wards to sit for the examination even if they were pregnant. He added that the District Director of Education would follow up on such candidates and ensure that they are present for the rest of the examination period.

He encouraged the One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Forty-One (1,841) candidates to be confident as they were only going to answer questions on topics they had already studied. He added that with the little effort they are able to make at this level, furthering their education will be much easier for them as they will be able to benefit from the government’s Free Senior High School (Free SHS) initiative.

The District Director of Education also used the opportunity to engage the invigilators to encourage them to make the effort to ensure a successful examination period.

Ending the visit, the DCE thanked all those present for taking time off their busy schedule to make it a point to make the visit to the centers fruitful. The team then wished candidates a successful examination.
